Hummus with bread, get a grip. Sorry, do not think this place is so grand. Try Nimbus instead, or Cliff House always divine!
Overall the whole experience here was excellent. I loved the old Wild Garlic but this is a worth replacement. ) There selections for dinner were not many, but what we had to choose from was so good looking on paper you didn't need a big variety. Mom and Dad has the lamb chops with goat cheese flan. Husband ordered the ginger marinated Ahi Tuna and I ordered the special that night, Ling Cod with lemon butter, and a beet & leek tartare. All the entrees were absolutely delicious! I didn't try the lamb but they looked like smaller portions. The parents said they were small but just right amounts and very tasty. I tried my husband's tuna it was cooked perfectly and yummy. My cod was also cooked perfectly and I can't decided if I like it or the beet-leek tartare more! It was very good. We all salads before hand and potato-basil soup to start. The soup was awesome and the salads as well. For dessert we all shared a decadent maple cheesecake with apple compote that was the best cheesecake I've tasted in years! But I don't eat it that often so I don't have much comparison. Another wonderful thing about this place I noticed was a disclaimer on the bottom of the menu that said they always make every effort to use locally grown, fresh and organic ingredients in their food.
Prospect street cafe, By far the best food I have had In the last ten years of dining in Bellingham WA.
I've payed lofty amounts for some pretty lowly meals in this town. Nimbus? Thanks for the $80.00 appetizer! Now where's my meal?!! Anthony's? Like eating in a warehouse with nightmare accustics. Cliffhouse? Thanks for the $140.00 view (drinks not included). Prospect Street? Attentive, knowledgeable, and most importantly, timely wait staff. The cheffing is obviously done by one (Spencer?) who is in love with his craft. The locally acquired ingrediants make an astonishing difference in the overall taste of your meal and also have you walking out the door knowing that you've not only just eaten locally but sustainably as well. Great price range. Very comfortable atmosphere. Incredible food. Who needs a view? I'll be back, again and again. Oh yeah, the map does need some work.
The food was excellent. The service was terrible. We waited for 30 minutes to get appetizers and another 30 minutes to get our food. I don't think I will be back.
I have contacted the web master of this site in regards to the map misdirecting the location of this cafe..aside from the map pointing in the absolute wrong location, this site is great resource. i would recommend using another source to get directions..yahoo maps or mapquest and enter the address...114 Prospect Street. Definitely worth the search, the food is outstanding! 360-714-8262 is the cafe's tel. no. open 530-930 Wed-Fri.
Exquisite food and friendly service. Definitely my new favorite stop when visiting Bellingham.
